Thursday, June 21st is Go Skateboarding Day
Also if you’re on Instagram and Twitter don’t forget to post images etc: http://www.goskateboardingday.org/blog/2012/06/20/instagram-and-twitter-takeover-on-gsd/
I recently came across this great video series by DIY America, it’s all about skateboarding and creativity, I thought I’d embed 6 of them here for easy viewing. There’s supposedly 12 in the series but I could only find the first 6. They are all in HD so click full screen for better viewing.

We are in with a chance of some funding which will allow the “bite” extension and some other additions to the skatepark in Dudhope Park to be done!
You can vote every week, spread the word and come back regularly to vote!
You can find out more about the extension plans on this page.
If you can post the link in as many places as possible that would be great, you can use the hashtags #DundeeSkate #Patch on twitter too!!!
Both of these things are happening on Sunday at EKPark, get there for 2pm to catch the Skateboard Scotland AGM and find out more about what Skateboard Scotland are up to and get involved.
Then from 3pm there’s the Relentless Super Skate Tour, free entry so get along and have a skate!
We’ve now got the first batch of Dundee Concrete decks, most of this batch have been purchased already but there are a few 8” decks still available. We should be ordering a second batch this week so if you’re after an 8.5” then we can sort you out!
Hi guys, there’s unfortunately been a problem getting the funding we were going to use to get this first batch of decks done, however they have actually been ordered.
A Third Foot have already prepped the art / setup for the artwork printing, the problem is that we need to pay at least 50% in advance before the decks will actually be printed. So, how many people would be willing to pay for their decks in advance? Including myself it needs 9 people to pay in advance to have enough for the 50%, however we also need to pay the full amount before we’ll get them delivered so in total it would need 17 of us to pay up front to get the order done.
Please let me know if you’re up for doing this, either comment here or leave a post on the Dundee Concrete Facebook page to let me know. I was hoping we wouldn’t need to do it this way but there’s no other way now, A Third Foot have been really patient about it all but are really keen to get this all sorted out, otherwise I’m going to have to pay out about £100 to cover the setup costs incurred so far.
We’ve set a poll up on our Facebook page to capture people’s preferred size of deck that they’d like so that we can better tailor our order for what people are after.
We need to know asap so Go take the poll here if you want one of the decks!
£35 for the deck.
This is the artwork for our soon-to-be-made Dundee Concrete decks. The artwork is a combination of a main photo of Craig McKnight (dundeeconcrete.com/memorial.html) doing the huge wallride at the Perth Road Factory (now the DCA building) surrounded by various other images from over the years of skating in Dundee dating back to the late 80’s. (Click on the image to zoom in and see in higher quality, or better still click through to Flickr using the link below)
It was quite fun pulling all of this together, also a challenge due to the simple black & white artwork format that we’re going for.
If you’re a Dundee skate local then you may recognise some of these images (I’ve added notes to the image on Flickr if you want to check your answers! http://www.flickr.com/photos/suburbia_org_uk/5943882299/).
All profits from these boards are going into the fund for the Dudhope Skatepark ‘bite’ extension which will also be a memorial to Craig McKnight. The decks will be available soon from DundeeConcrete.com for £35, also hopefully from some friendly skateshops because the more we sell the more money we raise towards the circa £14k total required for the extension. Any shops willing to stock them then please get in touch!
Dundeeconcrete.com is dedicated to information about Dundee's first, purpose built, concrete skatepark. Situated in Dudhope Park, Dundee, Scotland, overlooking the city and the River Tay.
