Footage filmed circa 1990 in the original Factory skatepark that was on Arthurstone Terrace / Erskine Street in Stobswell, Dundee.

Skaters include Nick Johnston, Rick Curran, Aaron Woolley, Andy Dobson, David ‘Smod’ Smith, a young John Rattray and others.

This is footage filmed fairly near the end of this Factory’s existence, you can see the burned out bit of the ramp in some of the footage, this got repaired again but it wasn’t too long after this that it that we lost pretty much the whole thing to fire just days before we were due to move all the ramps out after we’d been kicked out of the building.

(I’ve set a date for this video ad 7th June 1990 in Youtube, no idea how accurate that is!)

Thanks to Iain Bailey for sending me this footage!

Dudhope Skatepark Extension provisional start date

Just a heads up that we are provisionally looking at 17th June (yes, this month!) for work to start on the extension work at Dudhope Skatepark. It will take 3 - 4 weeks for the work to be done, at the moment the situation isn’t entirely clear as to whether the park will have to be completely closed for the duration of this work.

However, it is hoped that the park will be open for people to skate but some areas closed off to allow work to be done. But there will definitely be days where the park will have to be completely closed due to machinery etc being brought on site, concrete etc.

So we definitely need people to be patient during this period and if the park is closed off please don’t go jumping fences to get in as this will only slow things down. We’ll try our best to keep people notified of when the park will be out of use.

We’ve still to completely confirm June 17th as the start but for now keep a note of that date and expect some disruption for 3 - 4 weeks from that date, and remember we’ll have some cool new concrete additions to the park once it’s all done so it’s worth a little bit of disruption!

I recently came across this great video series by DIY America, it’s all about skateboarding and creativity, I thought I’d embed 6 of them here for easy viewing. There’s supposedly 12 in the series but I could only find the first 6. They are all in HD so click full screen for better viewing.
