Memorial
In December of 2009 Craig McKnight - a great friend of many in the skateboarding scene in Dundee - passed away unexpectedly. After speaking to a few people at Craig’s service / wake, we agreed that one of the best ways to build a memorial to him would be to fundraise to make more park in his name.
The images below are mock-ups of a design that has been quietly simmering away for a while now, and quotes are being gathered. The estimated total cost of construction is around £17k.
If we can raise HALF the cash, we hope to be in fair standing to receive match-funding from some source or another.

The design is relatively simple, but would be very effective in opening up the lines in that portion of the park.
Casting the block with his name and dates set into it would be a great, durable reminder of him.
(Sorry, there is honestly no room for another bowl or similar without REALLY bumping up the price and building a supporting wall etc)

The 1m wide, 8m long block would be 300mm (a foot) high at the bowl end (the existing manny pad pad is 200mm high and a tad low) and become 600mm at the high end.
Note the euro-gap/ launch thing, set back slightly for landing slides off the block. The steel edging will be 100mm wide chunky stuff; good for getting your grind on.
This 3D model (below) is to exact dimensions and best represents what the proportions would be.

Please keep let us know your thoughts about this, and any ideas you have for raising funds!
(BTW: as much as we’d love to just get a bunch of concrete-float wielding skaters together to build it for a fraction of the cost… since it’s managed by the council, they need to have it built by a real contractor with all the various legal backup which that involves.)
