Lights at the Skatepark!
Ok, you may have heard the news already but here’s a blog post to confirm it:
We are getting lights at the skatepark :)
Now, there is a slight bit of temporarily bad news, in order to install the lights the skatepark will have to be closed off for two weeks in order to install them. The park will be fenced off so there will be no access to the park during this time. However, this is a small price to pay in order to get lights to keep the sessions going throughout the winter!
At the moment the start date is Monday 2nd November (next week!), it could possibly be delayed, check back on Dundee Concrete or on our Facebook page to keep up to date.
More details about the lights…
There will be four 10m tall lighting towers with two lights on each tower giving a total of 8.84kWatt, in short it will be very well lit! Obviously location of the lights is important, looking at the plans they’re well laid out with basically a tower at each corner of the park, something along the lines of the image below:

They’ve been positioned at the lower left to make sure they are out of the way of any future construction to fill in ‘the bite’ (see Memorial page for more info on that).
The lights will be on a timer and will switch off at 10pm each evening, cleverly they will actually start to switch off at about 9.50pm with two lights at a time going off every few minutes, so we won’t be suddenly plunged into darkness mid-session!
I will post follow-up info soon including the various community bodies that have provided funding and people that have helped make this a reality!
